A tragic railway accident at Avenor in Ghana’s Volta Region has left the local community and social media users in shock. A motorcyclist lost his life after a failed attempt to cross a railway line ahead of an approaching train. The incident occurred at approximately 5:30 p.m. on Monday, 24th February 2025.
The fatal moment was captured on video and has since gone viral online, sparking widespread discussions about motor vehicle safety and railway crossing regulations in Ghana. In the footage, the motorcyclist can be seen heading towards the tracks, apparently unaware of the oncoming train. Despite his attempt to outrun it, the train struck him, resulting in his immediate death.
A separate video recorded after the accident shows a crowd of onlookers gathering at the scene, visibly shaken by the gruesome aftermath.
Online conversations have highlighted the persistent issue of reckless riding among some motorcyclists in Ghana, with many blaming the deceased for disregarding basic safety rules.
