Ghanaian rapper Strongman has expressed his frustration over the negative comments on social media regarding the costs associated with weddings, citing the example of his close friend Akwaboah.
The rapper shared his thoughts in an interview on Pure FM monitored by News & Vibes, highlighting the emotional toll such criticisms can have on individuals who invest heavily in their special day.
“It’s disheartening when you’ve put money into a wedding and then people on social media criticize your outfit. If it were up to me, I’d just sign the legal documents in court and give the money to my wife,” Strongman stated.
Referring specifically to Akwaboah’s wedding, Strongman revealed the substantial financial commitment his friend made.
“He spent a lot of money. I was really upset when I saw negative comments about his wedding on social media. Just for Kempinski, he paid over GH₵170,000 which did not include food. The negative comments bothered me as his close friend,” the rapper added.
Strongman’s comments highlight a growing concern among many about the pressures and criticisms faced by couples who choose to celebrate their weddings lavishly. The rapper’s stance is clear: the joy and significance of the occasion should not be overshadowed by negative remarks from outsiders.
This sentiment resonates with many who have experienced similar scrutiny. The financial and emotional investment in weddings often leads to high expectations, and when these are met with criticism, it can be particularly hurtful for the couple and their close friends and family.
