Renowned Ghanaian legal practitioner Edudzi Tameklo has taken a firm stance in response to accusations made by musician-turned-politician Kwame A-Plus against the Attorney-General.
According to Tameklo, such serious claims require substantial proof, not just verbal attacks or personal sentiments.
In his assessment, the nature of the allegations put forward by A-Plus demands more than emotional reactions — they must be supported with verifiable facts.
Tameklo warned that relying solely on insults without presenting concrete evidence does not advance the cause of justice or responsible governance.
He also cautioned A-Plus against misjudging the composed demeanor of the Attorney-General, pointing out that calmness should not be mistaken for passivity.
Tameklo clarified that the Attorney-General, having not been part of the Finance Committee when relevant laws were enacted, lacked the authority to influence or reconstitute that body.
He further pointed out that from 2021 to 2024, all payments linked to the Sanitation and Pollution levy were approved solely under the authority of Ken Ofori-Atta, with no legal role assigned to Hon. Dr. Ayine in the process.
Tameklo encouraged A-Plus to leverage his position in Parliament to formally request documentation detailing the flow and authorization of funds related to the levy in question.
He believes such a move would bring clarity to the matter and provide a factual basis to either affirm or dismiss the corruption claims.
Despite previously representing A-Plus through his law firm, Tameklo expressed that he felt morally obliged to speak out on this particular issue.
He emphasized the need for public figures to prioritize truth and accuracy, especially when holding others to account.
