Ghanaian music star Black Sherif has confirmed that he has officially submitted entries for the 2026 Grammy Awards. Speaking on Hitz FM with Kwame Dadzie and Doreen Avio, the acclaimed musician revealed that he filed for the Best African Music Performance and Global categories.
While he expressed excitement over the possibility of a nomination, Black Sherif emphasized that the outcome would not define his career or motivation. He highlighted that his primary focus remains on creating music and fostering a genuine connection with his fans.
Black Sherif also expressed confidence in the potential of Ghanaian musicians to earn international recognition, pointing to the growing influence and quality of the country’s music industry.
He is not alone in the pursuit, as fellow Ghanaian artist Shatta Wale has also submitted a nomination for consideration this year. Among the current contenders for the Best African Music Performance category are Burna Boy’s Love, Davido featuring Omah Lay’s With You, Eddy Kenzo and Mehran Matin’s Hope & Love, Ayra Starr featuring Wizkid’s Gimme Dat, and Tyla’s PUSH 2 START from South Africa.
