Controversial commentator Albert Nat Hyde, popularly known as Bongo Ideas, has voiced his displeasure over the recently constructed school in Nuaso, Eastern Region, funded by American rapper Ja Rule.
The six-classroom building, which serves the Nuaso St John’s Anglican School, was unveiled on April 1, with Ja Rule and his wife, Aisha, who also supported the initiative, present at the ceremony.
Despite the good intentions behind the project, the school has faced heavy criticism from social media users, with many comparing it unfavorably to a similar school built by
Ghanaian-American comedian Michael Blackson in his mother’s village, Agona Nsaba, Central Region.
Bongo Ideas led the charge, criticizing the design of the building, which he described as outdated.
The controversial critic placed the blame on the Ghanaian contractor involved in the project, suggesting that Ja Rule should have opted for an American contractor, like Blackson did, to ensure a more modern and contemporary structure.
However, content creator Kobe Boujee countered Bongo Ideas’ remarks, praising Ja Rule for his contribution to improving the educational infrastructure for children in Ghana, even if certain aspects of the project might raise questions.
The debate surrounding the project highlights differing perspectives on international aid and development efforts in Ghana, with some appreciating the support while others focus on the execution and quality of such initiatives.
