Building collapse in Ashanti Region claims life of mason
A sad catastrophe claimed the life of Kwaku Gyemfi, a mason in his early forties, in Sewua, Ashanti Region. The building was a two-story structure that had collapsed.
On Wednesday, July 17, 2024, Gyemfi, the principal constructor, was repairing cracked walls and damaged pillars in the structure.
A section of the structure unexpectedly collapsed while Gyemfi and his assistant were working, trapping Gyemfi beneath the debris.
Gyemfi was declared dead after suffering from injuries that did not respond to attempts to save him. Prince Kwame Adutwum, the local assemblyman, verified the occurrence and said the body has been brought to the morgue.
This horrific catastrophe serves as a reminder of how crucial it is to put safety first when building and to make sure structures are structurally solid in order to avoid tragedies like these.
