Tragedy struck in Dadwen, a community within the Adansi North District of the Ashanti Region, as a collision between a Toyota Hiace van and a trailer truck claimed the lives of six individuals and left fourteen others with severe injuries.
Eyewitnesses recount the horrifying scene, describing how the Toyota van, bearing the number AS 2889-19 and traveling from Dunkwa to Kumasi, lost control due to alleged overspeeding.
Veering off its path, the van collided with a trailer truck, registered as AS 468-S, which was traversing the Anwiankwanta highway en route to Obuasi.
The impact of the collision was devastating, resulting in immediate casualties and significant injuries among the occupants of the van.
Out of the twenty individuals aboard the Toyota van, which included several children, only fourteen managed to survive the ordeal, albeit with varying degrees of injuries.
Tragically, five individuals succumbed to their injuries at the accident site, while another victim passed away later while receiving medical attention at the AGA hospital.
Miraculously, both the driver and helper of the trailer truck escaped the collision with their lives intact, though undoubtedly shaken by the harrowing ordeal.
