Comedian DKB Hopes for Appointment in Mahama’s New Administration
Popular Ghanaian comedian Derrick Kobina Bonney, widely known as DKB, has come under fire from social media users after expressing his desire for a political appointment in the newly formed government of President John Dramani Mahama.
DKB, who actively campaigned for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) during the 2024 elections, voiced his hopes of being considered for a role in Mahama’s administration. According to him, he is prepared to serve Ghana in any capacity if given the opportunity.
Speaking in an interview on the AM Club with Kojo Daasebre on Max TV Gh, DKB said, “I am waiting for an appointment and hoping to be remembered by the President.”
The comedian further recounted his growing admiration for Mahama, recalling a moment when the President referenced one of his jokes during a political event, naming him as his favourite Ghanaian comedian. DKB described this recognition as one of the most significant moments of his career.
Following that encounter, DKB intensified his support for the NDC, including producing and sharing a skit promoting the party’s 24-hour economy campaign promise. However, the skit drew widespread criticism, forcing him to remove it from his platforms.
Notably, DKB claims that he created the skit independently, without any official commission from the party, and now believes that his loyalty warrants consideration for a political position.
His comments have sparked mixed reactions online, with some netizens questioning whether support during a political campaign should translate into government appointments.
