Rockson Nelson Dafeamekpor, Member of Parliament for South Dayi, has initiated a legal battle against Rev. John Ntim Fordjour, MP for Assin South, accusing him of spreading false and damaging claims online.
The controversy erupted following a May 8, 2025 post on X (formerly Twitter), in which Rev. Fordjour accused Dafeamekpor—who also serves as the Majority Chief Whip—of engaging in corrupt activities.
The post alleged that during his time as Vice Chairman of the Subsidiary Legislation Committee in Parliament, Dafeamekpor was part of a questionable deal involving payments from Kwabena Adu-Boahene, a former National Signals Bureau boss now facing serious financial crime charges.
According to Fordjour’s post, Adu-Boahene allegedly paid GH¢360,000 to influence the passage of a bill.
In court, Adu-Boahene has claimed that part of the GH¢49 million he is accused of mismanaging went to MPs in the form of “allowances,” naming figures paid to two parliamentary committees, one of which included Dafeamekpor.
In response, Dafeamekpor has filed a defamation suit, demanding that Rev. Fordjour take down the post and issue a public apology. He is also requesting a court injunction to prevent Fordjour from making similar remarks while the case is ongoing.
The South Dayi MP argues that the accusations have severely damaged his reputation, cost him professional opportunities, and caused emotional distress.
This legal dispute unfolds against the backdrop of Adu-Boahene’s ongoing trial, where he faces charges of theft, money laundering, and causing financial loss to the state. The case is set to resume on May 26, 2025.
