Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) flagbearer, didn’t hold back in his recent speech, criticizing former President Dramani Mahama’s time in office.
He pointed to economic data, saying Mahama’s leadership was the worst for Ghana.
The Vice president described himself as best for Ghana’s presidency claiming to have a certain track record. He called Mahama’s tenure a failure, especially in tackling corruption and other issues.
He went on to list the projects he has successfully undertaken under the Akufo-Addo government which include Ghana card, property address system, mobile money interoperability and digitalization of public services.
He highlighted that Mahama lost the last two elections because people didn’t want him back.
Vice President Bawumia, is in charge of the team that handles economic management in Ghana called the Economic Management team.
He has a background in finance and economics, and he served as the Bank of Ghana deputy governor from 2006 to 2009.
In addition, from 2011 to 2012, he represented the African Development Bank as the resident representative in Zimbabwe.
He graduated with first-class honors from the University of Buckingham in the United Kingdom (UK) with a Bachelor of Science in economics. He continued his schooling by graduating from Lincoln College at Oxford University with a master’s degree in development economics.
Dr. Bawumia also has a degree in economics from Canada’s Simon Fraser University.
