Ghanaian dancehall artist Shatta Wale has recently stirred discussions after calling on Ghanaians to apologise to former President John Dramani Mahama.
His comments come in light of the increasing protests against the current government led by President Akufo-Addo, with many citizens voicing frustrations over economic hardships and governance issues.
In a video circulating on social media, Shatta Wale expressed his displeasure with the public’s criticism of Mahama during his presidency.
He argued that Mahama was not given a fair chance to govern, and now that the nation is facing significant difficulties under the current administration, those who criticised Mahama should reflect on their actions.
According to Shatta Wale, Ghanaians were quick to demand change and supported Akufo-Addo’s leadership, only to later express disappointment over the resulting challenges.
Shatta Wale went on to say that the solution is for the public to extend an apology to Mahama, suggesting that he had been unjustly treated during his tenure.
He remarked that people should “go and beg” the former president, acknowledging that Mahama may not have been as bad as he was perceived during his time in office.
The artist’s comments have sparked a mix of reactions from the public, with some supporting his stance and others expressing contrasting views about the nation’s political landscape and leadership choices.
“You knew who Mahama was, but you didn’t give him the chance to do his work. You said you wanted Akufo-Addo, and we all accepted it. Now you’re complaining because of the challenges you’re facing. Go and apologize to Mahama. Every one of you should go and beg him.”
