A 40-year-old Nigerian man known as “Oga” has been accused of murdering his own son, Wisdom, and clandestinely burying him in Kyekyewere near Asuboi along the Accra to Kumasi Highway in the Ayensuano District of the Eastern Region. The shocking incident has rocked the local community and sparked widespread outrage.
Oga, a hardware seller residing with his family including his wife and three children, allegedly had a history of violent behavior towards his family members. Reports indicate that he frequently subjected his wife and children to physical abuse, creating an atmosphere of fear that prevented community intervention until tragedy struck.
The sequence of events leading to the discovery of Wisdom’s death began when Oga was seen transporting his severely beaten child in a taxi to the Nsawam Government Hospital. Despite his efforts, Wisdom succumbed to his injuries upon arrival, prompting medical staff to alert authorities due to suspicious circumstances surrounding the boy’s death.
Initially claiming that Wisdom died from malaria and was subsequently taken to the mortuary, Oga’s story quickly unraveled under scrutiny. George Oboubi, the Assembly Member for the area, became suspicious and initiated a follow-up investigation into the child’s condition. Oga’s conflicting statements and evasive behavior raised red flags, leading to further inquiries by law enforcement.
Upon further investigation, it was revealed that Oga had not only lied about the cause of Wisdom’s death but had also buried him without a proper funeral service or coffin in a public cemetery.
