Nigerian music sensation Fireboy DML, born Adedamola Adefolahan, has opened up about a deeply personal issue that has strained his relationship with his father—his tattoos.
During an appearance on the 90s Baby Show, the 29-year-old hitmaker admitted that while his piercings never raised concerns at home, his decision to get inked was a turning point that left his father heartbroken.
Fireboy revealed that whenever his father visits, he goes out of his way to stay covered, often wearing a jalabiya, just to shield his tattoos from view.
According to him, the sight of the tattoos consistently causes his father emotional pain—pain that may never fully heal.
Despite the tension, Fireboy made it clear that his love for tattoos is not just tied to his identity as an artist. He explained that even if he had pursued a corporate life as a banker, his body would still be a canvas.
To him, tattoos are a form of self-expression, a way to carry presence even in a singlet, and a creative statement that reflects his artistic soul.
The confession offered fans a rare glimpse into the clash between tradition and modernity in his personal life, and how personal choices can sometimes weigh heavily on loved ones.
