Nigerian music sensation Adedamola Adefolahan, better known as Fireboy DML, has opened up about an emotional experience he’s successfully steered clear of—heartbreak.
During a chat on the popular 90s Baby Show, the 29-year-old artist revealed that despite his romantic history, he has never gone through the agony of a broken heart.
Fireboy admitted that there was a time he considered getting his heart broken just for the emotional depth it could offer him as an artist. However, he ultimately decided it wasn’t worth the mental toll—especially not at this stage of his life, as he believes it could leave lasting damage.
In trying to understand the intensity of heartbreak, Fireboy said he reached out to some of the women he once dated to gain perspective. Their stories, however, convinced him that emotional pain of that magnitude was not something he wanted to experience firsthand.
He shared his personal theory on heartbreak, suggesting that in most cases, people play a role in their own emotional downfall. According to him, ignoring obvious signs or choosing to stay in relationships despite inner warnings often leads to disappointment and pain.
The ‘Playboy’ hitmaker believes many heartbreaks could be avoided if people listened to their instincts from the beginning. For him, the decision to avoid emotional entanglements that could spiral into heartbreak is deliberate—and he plans to keep it that way.
In his view, emotional heartbreak is an experience too painful to risk, and he has no intention of signing up for it any time soon.
