A remarkable feat of gaming endurance has been achieved by Vanessa Azoumaro, a third-year Social Work student at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).
She successfully completed a 56-hour video game marathon, playing Ghost of Tsushima non-stop from Friday, July 26, to Monday, July 29, 2024, at SG Mall in Kumasi.
Vanessa’s initial goal was to reach 48 hours, but she surpassed expectations, clocking an impressive 56 hours, 30 minutes, and 43 seconds.
A dedicated monitoring team ensured the integrity of her attempt, which is part of the Game-A-Thon challenge.
This achievement is the latest in a surge of Guinness World Records attempts from Ghana and Nigeria. Vanessa’s remarkable feat has earned her a potential place in the prestigious Guinness World Records, pending verification by the GWR team.
Vanessa’s marathon gaming session has generated excitement and admiration from the gaming community and beyond.
Her dedication and perseverance demonstrate the growing interest in gaming and esports in Ghana and Nigeria.
The Guinness World Records team will review Vanessa’s evidence to confirm her record-breaking achievement. If successful, she will join an elite group of record-holders, inspiring others to push their limits and strive for excellence.
The latest alleged record holder in Ghana was Chef Smith who lied to Ghanaians that he had a certificate from GWR for cooking marathon. GWR officials later indicated that the certificate was fake. The chef later apologised to Ghanaians and sponsors for deceiving them.
