Ghanaian Afro-fusion singer Gyakie has openly expressed her admiration for Omar Sterling, the rapper from the renowned duo R2Bees, declaring him her favourite Ghanaian rapper of all time.
In a recent interview on Joy FM’s Showbiz A-Z with Kwame Dadzie, the “Forever” hitmaker lauded Omar Sterling, also known as Paedae, for his poetic lyricism and compelling storytelling.
Gyakie described Omar Sterling’s rap style as distinctive, noting how he tells real-life stories with lyrics that are both relatable and thought-provoking. “Omar Sterling is a poet. His rap is always different. He shares stories about his life and real-time events, which really connects with listeners,” she said.
Though Gyakie is primarily known for her singing rather than rapping, she revealed that her appreciation for rap occasionally influences her sound. She called her music eclectic, shaped by the diverse genres she grew up listening to.
Currently, Gyakie is promoting her new single ‘Sankofa,’ which previews her upcoming debut album, ‘After Midnight.’ With multiple hits and a growing international audience, Gyakie continues to establish herself as one of Ghana’s most versatile and exciting music artists, confidently drawing inspiration from various creative influences.
