Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the King of the Asante Kingdom, has taken decisive steps to safeguard the future of the six children of Frimpong Yaw Francis, widely known as Nana Pooley, a devoted Asante Kotoko SC fan who lost his life following a match at Nsoatre.
The Otumfuo Osei Tutu II Foundation (OOTIIF), the King’s charitable organisation, has been assigned to manage the educational needs of the children.
Additionally, Otumfuo has assumed full responsibility for the funeral arrangements of the deceased.
This commitment was made public by Nana Apinkra Akwasi Awua, Chairman of Asante Kotoko’s Interim Management Committee (IMC), during a meeting with representatives from the Ghana Football Association (GFA) and the Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA) at the club’s secretariat on February 11, 2025.
Frimpong Yaw Francis, known for his unwavering support of Kotoko, tragically died after being stabbed during disturbances that erupted after Kotoko’s 1-0 loss to Nsoatreman FC at the Nana Koramansah Park in Nsoatre, Bono Region, on February 2, 2025. Six suspects have been apprehended in connection with the incident.
In the wake of this tragedy, Asante Kotoko SC has halted all football activities while investigations continue.
