Popular Yoruba movie star, Ibrahim Olalekan Bello, known in the industry as Omoba Sanjay, recently opened up about a difficult decision he had to make early in his acting journey.
Speaking with Kunle Afod on YouTube, Sanjay shared how a romantic spark on a movie set quickly turned into a professional dilemma.
He recalled meeting a woman who had accompanied her friend to the filming location. She expressed interest in him, and since he wasn’t in a relationship at the time, the two began to connect.
However, what Sanjay didn’t know was that the producer overseeing the movie was also watching the same woman—and had taken a liking to her.
The producer, believing there was already something going on between them, reportedly began treating Sanjay unfairly.
Despite the lady not having any role in the production, the producer allegedly gave her money daily while ignoring Sanjay, who was actively working on the set.
Sanjay said he sensed the producer was trying to provoke a reaction from him, possibly to damage his reputation.
The situation grew increasingly awkward, especially as the woman confided in Sanjay about the producer’s actions.
Despite the chemistry, Sanjay ultimately chose to distance himself from her. He feared that challenging someone with industry power could harm his future prospects, as producers often share information and opinions about actors during casting.
In the end, Sanjay decided that preserving his professional reputation was more important than pursuing the relationship.
