Afua Asantewaa has refuted claims that she received financial support from former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia during her sing-a-thon attempt.
Speaking in an interview with Empress Gifty on UTV, she stated that despite widespread reports, she never personally received any money from Bawumia.
“One is seen as an outcast and chased out of nine villages when they speak the truth,” she remarked, emphasizing that her statement was not meant to offend anyone but was simply a fact.
Afua Asantewaa explained that while she heard rumors about the former vice president making a donation, the money never reached her directly. She added that she has shown gratitude to everyone who supported her, no matter how small their contribution was.
Her comments come amid ongoing discussions about the financial backing she received during her record-breaking attempt.
