Internet Fraudster Allegedly Murders Girlfriend With Hammer During Drug-Fueled Rage

A 27-year-old man identified as Ubakpororo Kelvin has been arrested by the Delta State Police Command following the brutal killing of his girlfriend, Excel Ukeredi Peace, who was also the mother of his two children. The tragic incident occurred on June 26, 2025.

Kelvin had gone into hiding after the crime, prompting a manhunt. He was eventually captured and taken into custody, where he reportedly confessed to the killing in a video released by police authorities.

According to the police, Kelvin admitted that the confrontation with Peace escalated after he accused her of engaging in sex work. During the heated exchange, he claimed she picked up a knife. Kelvin, who said he was under the influence of tramadol and a strong form of cannabis known as “loud,” stated that he reacted violently, striking her three times on the forehead with a hammer.

Investigations also revealed that the suspect works as a farmer and engages in internet-related fraud.

The case has sparked outrage, with many calling for justice and expressing concern about rising cases of domestic violence, drug abuse, and criminal behavior in the region. Authorities are expected to press formal charges as investigations continue.
