A Nigerian man has recounted a terrifying encounter with suspected Fulani herdsmen who attempted to kidnap him and his companions in Delta State.
The man, who shared his ordeal on X (formerly Twitter), revealed that he narrowly escaped with his life, though his vehicle was left riddled with bullet holes.
According to his post, the group had just entered their car and were preparing to drive off when armed men suddenly emerged from the nearby bushes, shouting at them to stop. Acting swiftly, the driver reversed at high speed to escape the ambush.
A video accompanying the post shows the aftermath, with bullet holes clearly visible in the vehicle.
In the background, the visibly shaken man can be heard describing how the attackers suddenly appeared and opened fire.
“They came out of the bush shouting. We just got in the car and they started shooting,” he narrated.
The incident has sparked alarm on social media, with many Nigerians expressing concern over the growing threat of kidnappings and attacks in the southern parts of the country.
Several users criticized state authorities for not doing enough to secure the region, while others called for stronger local defense systems to counter such threats.
The discussion also reignited debates over the presence of herdsmen in southern states, with some online commenters suggesting drastic measures if security continues to deteriorate.
While official statements have not yet been released, the incident adds to the rising wave of insecurity and has left many residents of the area shaken.
