Captain Smart, host of the popular morning show Onua Maakye on Onua TV, has issued a stark warning to the New Patriotic Party (NPP) following a violent incident that left a Kennedy Agyapong supporter hospitalized.
During the April 30 edition of his show, the outspoken broadcaster pointed to the recent chaos in the Ashanti Region as a sign that the NPP may be heading for internal collapse.
He expressed serious concern over the fact that such violence could occur within the party’s own stronghold, suggesting that if drastic action isn’t taken, the party might disintegrate even before the 2028 elections.
The incident that triggered his remarks happened during a “Thank You” tour event held at the Bantama Pentecost Church.
A student from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), affiliated with Unity Hall (Conti), was severely injured after being stabbed multiple times during a confrontation.
Reports indicate that the injured student was part of a Jama Group engaged by Kennedy Agyapong’s team to bring energy and support to the gathering.
Things reportedly spiraled out of control when a wealthy ally of the former MP handed cash to the group.
Moments later, a faction of heavily armed men—allegedly aligned with the NPP—stormed the scene and forcefully took the money.
The resulting clash turned violent, with gunshots fired and a member of the Jama Group sustaining stab wounds.
The victim was immediately rushed to Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital and is currently undergoing treatment.
Kennedy Agyapong’s camp has since reported the matter to the Kumasi Central Police, though no arrests have been made at this time.
The stabbing has intensified calls within the party and beyond for immediate reforms to end rising tensions and violent infighting.
