The Governing Council of KNUST has presented the name of the university’s next Vice Chancellor to Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Chancellor.
The nominee emerged as the most preferred candidate among those shortlisted after a Council vote and will succeed outgoing Vice Chancellor Prof. Rita Akosua Dickson.
Otumfuo affirmed the selection and directed that steps be taken to announce the appointment publicly.
He assured the university of his continued support for its leadership, noting that while leadership changes, KNUST remains.
“We will continue to offer our support for all leaders of the school, just as we have done for Akosua and her predecessors,” he said.
“Everyone cannot lead. We will have one leader at a time, and looking at the overwhelming support for the winner, I know he is ready to lead.”
The tenure of Prof Akosua Dickson, the first female VC of the institution, will end on July 31, while her successor will take over in August 2026.
The Council also presented a framed woven artwork of the Asante flag to the Palace.
The delegation was led by Council Chairman Akyeamfour Asafo Boakye and included Vice Chancellor Prof. Akosua Dickson, Prof. Abdul Samed Munraka, and Shakir Is-Haq Waiz.
