Ghanaian actor and filmmaker Kwadwo Nkansah, popularly known as Lil Win, has revealed that he refused a $20,000 bribe intended to halt production of his upcoming film about Burkina Faso’s military leader, Captain Ibrahim Traoré.
The movie, titled The Last African Hero, is a biographical depiction of Traoré’s journey to leadership in Burkina Faso. Since the release of a teaser trailer on May 21, which featured cast members dressed in military uniforms reflecting Traoré and his allies, the project has attracted significant attention.
However, Lil Win and his team faced pressure from an unknown individual claiming to represent a powerful figure who wanted the film stopped. The visitor allegedly offered a substantial cash incentive to convince them to abandon the project.
Despite the tempting offer, Lil Win declined, emphasizing his dedication to telling this important story. His decision has earned widespread admiration from fans and notable figures in Ghana’s entertainment scene. Among his supporters is veteran hiplife musician Okyeame Kwame, who has publicly encouraged Lil Win to continue with the film.
As anticipation builds, The Last African Hero is poised to spark conversations about leadership and revolution in West Africa, reflecting Lil Win’s determination to share meaningful narratives through cinema.
