Ghanaian rapper Kweku Flick has opened up about his relationship with fellow musician Kwesi Arthur, shedding light on how miscommunication and record label challenges affected their interactions over the years.

Speaking in an interview on Angel FM, Kweku Flick admitted that for a long time he believed Kwesi Arthur did not genuinely like him, despite their early engagements.

“I had a feeling that Kwesi Arthur never liked me,” he said. “But I still wish to pay 150,000 dollars for him, if my mum permits me to.”

He also reaffirmed his admiration for Sarkodie, describing the multiple award-winning rapper as one of his biggest inspirations.

“Sarkodie is one of the people I look up to, and I still do. I never expected that we would ever be close,” he stated.

Recounting how his interactions with Kwesi Arthur began, Kweku Flick said the rapper first reached out to him in 2019 after expressing interest in his sound.

“He called me in 2019 and told me he liked my vibe. I even allowed him to speak with my parents,” he recalled.

According to Kweku Flick, plans for a possible collaboration gained momentum in 2020 when he sent Kwesi Arthur a song.

“I sent him a song because I wanted a collaboration. The energy was high at first, but later it dropped, even though we were still chatting,” he explained.

He added that after sending several songs for consideration without receiving feedback, he began to feel the interest had waned.

“I sent him a number of songs so he could choose at least one for a collaboration, but there was no response. So I stopped sending the music,” he said.

Kweku Flick noted that his doubts briefly eased when Kwesi Arthur reached out to console him following the death of his father.

“When my dad passed away, he checked up on me and sent his condolences. That made me think he actually liked me,” he said.

However, he explained that subsequent conversations again lost momentum, leading him to stop following up entirely.

“When we resumed our conversations, the energy dropped again, and that was when I accepted it and stopped the follow-up,” he noted.

Kweku Flick said he later gained a better understanding of the situation after Kwesi Arthur publicly spoke about difficulties with his record label.

“When he posted about his struggles on Twitter, I realised it wasn’t his fault. He was going through issues with his record label and was being restricted,” he explained.

Despite the setbacks, Kweku Flick stressed that his admiration for Kwesi Arthur remains unchanged.
