An incident occurred in Gomoa Ekwamkrom, Central Region, where a 30-year-old man, Joe, lost his life while swimming with his girlfriend in River Akora on Friday.
Joe’s girlfriend raised the alarm when he failed to resurface after diving into the river, prompting a search effort by community members and divers deployed by the local chiefs.
Despite the extensive search, Joe’s body was not found until Monday morning, after a fetish priest performed rituals.
The body was discovered at Gomoa Brofoyedu, near Gomoa Ekwamkrom, and has been taken to the Agona Swedru Hospital mortuary for further examination.
The police have launched an investigation into the tragic incident, which has left the community in mourning and Joe’s girlfriend and family in shock. The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of water safety and the devastating consequences of accidents.
