Victory Tasie, 23, was found not guilty in a courtroom drama at the Ikeja Sexual Offenses and Domestic Violence Court in NIgeria despite being charged with the rape of his 19-year-old fiancée.
After serving two years in prison, Tasie’s case was dismissed by the judge due to a no-case submission made by his defense attorney, Mrs. Rukayat Owolabi.
The case’s presiding judge, Justice Abiola Soladoye, highlighted the significance of evidence in her decision, citing the prosecution’s inability to prove Tasie’s defilement.
Tasie’s girlfriend’s testimony, which refuted claims of rape and confirmed their consensual relationship, was crucial to the decision.
The girlfriend refuted previous assertions that she was sixteen by stating in her evidence that she was nineteen at the time of the alleged occurrence. She insisted that Tasie was her boyfriend and that there had been no violence or pressure in their relationship.
The judge declared that the prosecution’s attempt to establish the defendant’s defilement accusation was unsuccessful. The defendant is hereby released and declared not guilty since he has no case to answer.
It was clear that there was indeed no rape and they mutually decided to start a relationshop and also be intimate. The particular incident which the girl described as rape was never rape.
