Rapper AMG Medikal, from Ghana, is well-known for his openness. He has given prospective married couples a realistic dose of reality by highlighting the fact that love is insufficient to support a lifetime commitment.
In an exclusive Star FM conversation with seasoned presenter Bola Ray, Medikal offered personal experiences and lessons learned, emphasizing the value of being well-prepared before entering into marriage.
Thinking back on his own experience, especially his well-known divorce from Fella Makafui, Medikal advised his audience not to base decisions only on love. He said to walk the aisle with someone, love alone isn’t enough, highlighting the difficulties that come with getting married.
He explained that marriage is a ‘whole different ball game’.
“If you love somebody it doesn’t mean you should get married to them.”
In the radio conversation, Medikal stressed the need of getting thorough premarital counseling and talking to experienced people who have made it through marriage’s trials. He emphasized the marriage’s seeming simplicity but deep complexity and urged couples to treat the institution soberly and strategically.
Medikal and his estranged wife have made headlines for a couple of weeks now. Though they have separated, they live in the same house. According to Medikal, though the house is for him he put it in the name of himself and Fella which means that legally the house belongs to both of them.
This has created a dispute especially because Medikal tried sacking Fella’s cousin from the house.
