The controversy over Kumawood actress Mercy Asiedu’s recent social media-viral costume choice has been ignited by US-based design critic Charlie Dior. Asiedu grabbed attention with her striking fashion choice.
She wore a denim skirt and boots with a tight-fitting spaghetti-strap blouse in several colors, accented with a belt chain, bright earrings, and a choker.
Asiedu’s outfit, according to Dior, did not fit her “triangularly inverted” body type, and the designer took issue with the accessories and proportions. He compared the ensemble to a mash-up of many historical styles, saying it looked overly bold and overwhelming.
He emphasised that though she loved women who dared to dress bodly in spite of their age, this was too bold.
Asiedu’s appearance had already generated discussion on social media, as users had differing opinions on her audacious wardrobe selection. Asiedu’s ensemble demonstrated her desire to embrace unusual styles and defy established fashion conventions, in spite of the criticism.
