Wunmi, the widow of late Nigerian singer Mohbad, has provided an emotional account of the circumstances surrounding his death.
She shared these details during a recent interview on TVC’s Your View show, highlighting the sequence of events that unfolded after a nurse was called in to treat Mohbad for injuries.
The nurse reportedly arrived at their home at about 2 p.m. while Wunmi was preparing for their son Liam’s five-month celebration. Due to space constraints, Mohbad was treated in the master bedroom.
Wunmi said she informed the nurse about Mohbad’s ulcer condition and advised caution with the medications administered.
Initially, there were no complications after the first two injections. However, trouble started when the third injection was given. Mohbad immediately complained, saying he needed to vomit and urinate.
After assisting him to the restroom, Wunmi described how he suddenly collapsed, screamed that his heart was burning, and desperately asked for water. Despite efforts to relieve his discomfort, including pouring water on him and moving him to an air-conditioned room, his condition worsened.
With Mohbad’s car not operational and his condition deteriorating rapidly, Wunmi and a neighbour opted to transport him to the hospital on a motorcycle, navigating through traffic. Sadly, upon arrival, doctors declared him dead.
Mohbad’s sudden passing on 12 September 2023 shocked many and sparked widespread discussions, with numerous calls for thorough investigations into the circumstances leading to his death. Wunmi’s detailed account adds new insights into what might have gone wrong in the singer’s final hours.
