Mr Drew Breaks Down What Really Makes a Song Go Viral

Published:

Ghanaian artist Mr Drew has shared his thoughts on what truly makes a song successful, and it’s not just about being danceable.

While many people think that catchy, danceable beats are the secret to a hit song, Mr Drew disagrees. He argues that the most important factor is the quality of the music itself. A song that resonates, even without a dance challenge, can still blow up.

In a recent interview with Amansan Krakye on Property FM, Mr Drew explained, “I don’t believe that just because a song is danceable, it will automatically become a hit. A song needs to be good first and foremost. If it’s not, how can we even move to it?”

He went on to highlight Fameye’s song “Very Soon,” which became a major success even without a viral dance trend to go with it. According to Mr Drew, “Fameye didn’t need a dance challenge to make ‘Very Soon’ a hit. The song was simply good, and that’s what made it work.”

The “Mood” singer stressed that while danceable tunes certainly help, the quality of the song remains the most crucial element. “A good song is the foundation, and everything else, including dances or trends, follows naturally,” he added.
