Popular Ghanaian media figure and Good Morning Ghana host, Paul Adom Otchere, has revealed a tense encounter with National Security operatives who reportedly attempted to detain him upon his return to Ghana on Sunday, May 25, 2026.
Speaking on his program, Paul narrated that he had been in the United Kingdom over the weekend but was met with disturbing news just before landing back in Accra. Friends had warned him that National Security officials were planning to arrest him, echoing recent actions taken against fellow journalist Adu Boahene.
Known for his forthright commentary, Paul believes his bold style has unsettled some powerful individuals who want to “teach him a lesson.” Upon arrival at the airport, he noticed suspicious activity that confirmed his fears.
Things escalated when an anonymous caller warned him to leave his luggage behind and exit the airport immediately to avoid harm. Following this urgent advice, Paul sought refuge at a friend’s home near Burma Camp.
The mysterious caller later cautioned him against leaving the country anytime soon, revealing alleged plans to fabricate a scandal against him, similar to the tactics used against Adu Boahene.
This revelation has stirred public outcry, with many demanding answers from National Security on why a journalist faces such treatment for voicing opinions on air. Calls have grown louder for authorities to respect press freedom and uphold the right to free speech in Ghana.
