The National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) has intensified efforts to locate Gifty Oware-Mensah, the Deputy Executive Director of the National Service Authority (NSA), who has been missing for weeks amid a payroll fraud investigation.
Authorities believe Oware-Mensah’s involvement in a scheme that inserted ghost names onto the NSA payroll led to significant financial losses for the state.
Her disappearance comes as the NIB ramps up investigations into the scandal. Security agencies suspect that Oware-Mensah fled the country to evade questioning.
Despite extensive search efforts, her whereabouts remain unknown.
The development follows the recent arrest of Kweku Ohene Gyan, former Deputy Director of Operations at the NSA. Gyan was apprehended last Saturday evening and is currently assisting with investigations.
His detention is seen as the first in a series of arrests expected as authorities pursue individuals linked to the payroll fraud.
The ghost name scheme reportedly enabled several individuals to draw salaries fraudulently, draining state resources.
The NIB believes the network behind the operation includes multiple insiders at the NSA.
While Gyan remains in custody, the search for Oware-Mensah continues, with security agencies determined to bring all those responsible to justice.
As investigations progress, the public remains watchful for updates on the high-profile manhunt and the outcome of this significant financial scandal.
