The mother of renowned Ghanaian rapper Okomfour Kwadee has made startling claims regarding the role of his former manager, Hammer Nti, in his prolonged battle with mental health issues.
In an emotional interview on UTV monitored y News and Vibes, she accused Hammer Nti of prioritising music and financial gain over her son’s well-being. According to her, despite Kwadee’s fragile state, his management allegedly pressured him to continue making music, exposing him to an environment that encouraged substance abuse. She believes the constant demands of the industry worsened his condition, pushing him further into a downward spiral.
She lamented that his management team failed to consider his health, focusing only on his ability to generate revenue. Even when it was evident that he was struggling, she claimed they still forced him to perform, a pressure that led him to rely on hard drugs. The distressed mother expressed her heartbreak at witnessing her son’s suffering, implying that the industry’s negligence played a significant role in his condition.
Okomfour Kwadee, famed for his unique storytelling rap, has battled mental health challenges for years, with periodic reports of his struggles making headlines. While many in the music industry have called for assistance, his mother’s revelations suggest that those responsible for managing his career may have contributed to his decline rather than providing the necessary support.
Her accusations have ignited discussions among fans and industry observers, raising concerns about the responsibility of management teams in safeguarding the welfare of artists. Many have questioned whether enough is done to ensure the mental and emotional stability of musicians in Ghana’s entertainment industry.
As of now, Hammer Nti has not publicly responded to the allegations. However, the controversy surrounding Kwadee’s struggles continues to spark debate about the treatment of artists and the pressures they face in their careers.
