The Monarch of the Asante Kingdom, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, is celebrating another year of life — a milestone worthy of honour.

His Majesty turned 76 today, May 6, 2026.

The occasion is both joyous and significant for the Asante Kingdom and Ghana at large, drawing tributes that acknowledge His Majesty’s decades of service.

No celebratory event is scheduled for the day, as the Manhyia Palace is observing traditional rites.

Today is an auspicious day in Asante custom, reserved for the consecration of the King’s soul.

However, the official celebration of the King’s new age has been rescheduled to Sunday, May 10, 2026.

Born on May 6, 1950, the 16th occupant of the Golden Stool has reigned as the Asantehene since April 1999.

His Majesty’s leadership has been defined by efforts to preserve Asante heritage while promoting development in education, health, and peacebuilding both within Asanteman and Ghana.

Messages of goodwill have flooded in from traditional leaders, government officials, religious bodies, and citizens, with many highlighting his role as a unifying figure in Ghana’s democratic and cultural life.
