A Nigerian woman has shared a terrifying experience involving a “one chance” robbery that left her traumatised after boarding a bus in Ogudu, Lagos. Her story, posted on TikTok, has sparked widespread concern over the growing danger of roadside robberies involving fake public transport vehicles.
According to her account, the incident happened on a Friday morning when she boarded a bus at the Ogudu bus stop, heading to Victoria Island. At first glance, the passengers and vehicle appeared completely normal—a man in a suit, another in a police uniform, and the driver all looked like professionals commuting to work.
Shortly after the bus began its journey, however, the mood suddenly shifted. The driver stopped to pick up another man, and then quickly rolled up the windows. Within seconds, all the supposed passengers put on face masks and began issuing threats. She was forced to the floor and had her phone, bag, and ATM card taken from her.
The worst part, she said, was that the man in a police uniform wasn’t there to protect anyone. Instead, he played a key role in the robbery, taking her ATM card and demanding her PIN to withdraw her funds.
In the video, she exposed how coordinated the operation was—posing as regular commuters only to trap victims in transit and steal from them with military-style precision.
Her story sparked an outpouring of empathy and alarm from other users in the comment section. Many claimed to have had similar experiences in Ogudu and other parts of Lagos, with some saying the police in the area seem aware of the crimes but do nothing about them.
One commenter shared how she too boarded a bus at Ogudu and ended up robbed and nearly blinded. Others recalled losing money, phones, and even having loans taken out in their names after their bank details were stolen.
This incident adds to growing concerns about safety on Lagos roads, particularly the ongoing menace of “one chance” robberies. Victims are often left physically and emotionally scarred, with little hope of recovering their belongings—or receiving justice.
Residents are now calling for increased vigilance, proper enforcement, and public awareness to prevent more people from falling prey to such well-organised crimes.
