This call comes amidst concerns over alleged spiritual manipulation aiming to impact the outcome of the upcoming presidential election.
According to him, other aspirants are already working on their spirituality to turn the votes in their favor and so Mahama must stop campaigning and concentrate on that.
“Anyone who knows Papa Mahama must tell him to work on his spiritual works and stop the campaign. He must work on his spirituality because some people are using their spiritual work to take the seat.”
General elections are scheduled to take place in Ghana on December 7, 2024, to choose the president and members of Parliament. Incumbent President Nana Akufo-Addo is ineligible to run again due to term limits.
The ruling New Patriotic Party commenced its nomination period on May 26, 2023, and concluded nominations on June 24, 2023. The party selected its candidate during its National Congress on November 4, 2023.
In a bid to streamline the candidate pool, the NPP conducted a Special Super Delegates Congress on August 26, 2023. This congress determined the top five candidates who would proceed to the final primary in November. Vice President Bawumia emerged victorious, securing 68% of the vote.
Meanwhile, the opposition National Democratic Congress began its nomination period on February 22, 2023, closing nominations on March 22, 2023. Former President Mahama overwhelmingly secured the nomination, winning nearly 99% of the vote. This sets the stage for his fourth consecutive election as the NDC’s flag-bearer.
