A teacher has been left with permanent eye damage after being attacked by a student in Offinso. The Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) is outraged and demanding justice.
The incident occurred when the teacher reprimanded the student for loitering after break. The student retaliated, stabbing the teacher in the eye.
GNAT Secretary, Mr. Musah Tanko, condemned the attack and called for immediate action from the Ghana Education Service (GES) and the Police Service. He demanded adequate compensation for the teacher and emphasized the need for improved safety measures.
GNAT has given the GES and the Police Service a three-day ultimatum to address the issue. Failure to do so will prompt further action from the association.
“Whatever compensation is due to the teacher must be given to him.”
“If by next week we do not hear any positive developments, we will decide on the next line of action.”
