Public figure Bridget Otoo has referred to the President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo as a dictator. This happened when Tema General Hospital refuted rumors that a newborn had died as a result of power disruptions.
Otoo expressed dissatisfaction with government agencies for their silence out of concern for their careers. In a democratic society, she underlined, people’s voices matter.
She also demanded that the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) release a schedule for power interruptions, criticizing the hospital for concealing the truth.
Otoo brought attention to a physician’s report of a baby’s death as a result of power outages, highlighting the government’s callous disregard for human life. She insisted that authorities be held accountable and transparent.
Following a power outage at the Tema General Hospital on Tuesday, March 26, a three-year-old infant was reported dead as a result.
The hospital’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and other departments that did not rely on a generator were impacted by the power outage, although other departments did depend on the facility’s generator.
The mother of the deceased infant, in an interview with the media stated that physicians informed her that the baby had died as a result of the power outage.
However, management of the hospital have denied this.
