Kwesi Nyantakyi, a former GFA president and contender in the Ejisu NPP primary, has been treated since Friday night and has now been released from Asokore Mampong Hospital. Nyantakyi became ill as a result of being too tired to eat throughout the campaign.
Speaking to supporters of the NPP in Ejisu on Saturday, Nyantakyi related how he became lightheaded while campaigning and had to be taken to the hospital.
“I thank God I am still alive,” he said, expressing his thanks for the medical care he got, including intravenous infusions.
Nyantakyi stayed dedicated to his electoral duties in spite of his health setback. He looked weak and needed support from his squad when he showed up at the polling place to cast his vote. Nine candidates participated in the Ejisu NPP primary for the parliamentary seat after MP John Kumah passed away in March.
Nyantakyi’s decision to participate in the election again despite health issues demonstrates how determined and tenacious candidates are to carry out their mandates.
