Choosing to step away from sex has quietly redrawn the lines in Vicky Zugah’s dating life, and the results have been telling.
In a recent TikTok video, the actress shared that her decision to practise celibacy has come with an unexpected outcome. Men who once showed keen interest tend to pull back once they realise she is firm about keeping intimacy off the table.
She traced the decision back to December 2025, when she began reflecting on her past relationships and noticed a pattern in the kind of men she kept attracting. That realisation pushed her to deliberately remove sex from the equation in order to break the cycle. Since then, she has continued to go on dates and engage with potential partners, but with a clear boundary in place.
Over the past few months, she said she has interacted with about 10 men. Some of those connections led to physical meetups, while others remained online, especially with individuals based outside Ghana.
According to her, a common thread runs through nearly all these encounters. Many of the men initially brushed off her stance, assuming it was something she might eventually reconsider. However, once it became clear that she was serious, they gradually faded away without offering any explanation.
She said this phase has given her sharper insight into people’s intentions, making it easier to tell who is genuinely interested and who is not. In her view, celibacy creates space to observe beyond physical attraction and helps filter out those who are not looking for anything meaningful.
Vicky Zugah added that taking sex out of relationships forces a slower, more intentional approach to dating, allowing people to see clearly and identify those with genuine motives. She also pointed out that in a time where casual intimacy is easily accessible, choosing celibacy can quickly reveal who is truly willing to stay for the right reasons.
