A group of supporters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Ashanti Region have expressed disappointment and frustration after being bussed to the outdooring ceremony of Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh in Kumasi yesterday, only to be left without food and water throughout the day.
According to the supporters, they were transported from various parts of the region to attend the high-profile event, but were neglected by the event organizers, leaving them hungry and thirsty for several hours.
“We were brought here early in the morning, but no one has given us anything to eat or drink all day,” said one disgruntled supporter.
“We are disappointed in the way we have been treated. We are supporters of the party, but it seems like our efforts are not appreciated.”
The supporters claimed that they had been promised food and drinks, but none were provided. “We were told that we would be taken care of, but it’s clear that no one cares about us,” said another supporter.
The incident has sparked concerns about the treatment of party supporters and the organization of events by the NPP in the Ashanti Region. The party’s regional executives have yet to comment on the matter.
The incident has sparked a heated debate on social media, with many users sharing their thoughts and opinions on the matter.
“So they bus people from different regions to one location to make it look like people showed up from that region. Herhhhhhh,” wrote one user.
“Let them understand, they haven’t seen anything yet. When the incumbent vice president wins power, it will be a triple disaster,” added another user.
Some users questioned the authenticity of the story, with one user writing, “This video may be staged, or even if it was true, the gentleman claiming to be NDC outdid himself. I am not here as NDC or NPP, but people like these ones are the reasons why I think we must begin to write some sort of test/exams before registering people to be voters.”
Others defended the NPP, saying, “Whether bussed or not, Ashanti will vote massively for NPP just as Voltarians do for NDC.”
Some users were unsympathetic to the plight of the supporters, writing, “It’s always complains about food and drinks, if not for money they can’t just go and support with clean hearts.”
“Why are they complaining? Did somebody put a gun to their head to be bused to the ceremony. If not then, Why are they complaining. If they had received brown envelopes, would they have shared the content with us,” asked another user.
One user pointed out, “If they had any real work, they wouldn’t have closed their shops or businesses to attend NAPO’s unveiling. They shouldn’t complain about not being provided with food & water. NPP has been in power and done economically well, so they should be able to buy their own food & water.”
