A truck driver is being praised for his exceptional skills and quick thinking after he managed to navigate his vehicle through the treacherous Maakro Road, under construction, despite experiencing brake failure at high speed.
The dramatic incident occurred at Kumasi-Maakro, where the driver’s bravery and expertise saved numerous lives and properties. Witnesses described the scene as “hair-raising” as the driver skillfully maneuvered his truck, avoiding a potential catastrophe.
The Maakro Road, currently under construction, poses a significant challenge to drivers due to its rough terrain. However, the driver’s exceptional handling of the situation has earned him widespread acclaim.
Social media users reacted to the video.
“I was there, and it was on Saturday afternoon,” said one eyewitness. “The things that were destroyed were a stand where phone accessories were sold and the car. It was carrying bags of rice.”
While many have hailed the driver as a hero, others have raised concerns about the safety of the road and the driver’s speed. “First of all, why is he driving at a high speed on a rough road. Secondly, why is he driving at a high speed on a road under construction? Thirdly, why does he still have his license?”
Others have also criticized the driver’s speed, with one person noting, “He was moving at high speed with cargo with a truck he shouldn’t be hailed. Owners of the truck should be jailed or fined for allowing a truck with a poor maintenance record to be on the road. Driver jailed or fined for speeding.”
However, many have come to the driver’s defense, praising his expertise and quick thinking. “Experience is really necessary. If it was an apprentice driving, it would be a different story. Nice to see good and experienced drivers doing the most. God bless him.”
