A surprising moment unfolded at the Electoral Commission’s (EC) head office when presidential hopeful Dr. Agnes Ayisha made an unexpected plea to be allowed more time to complete her nomination forms.
Dr. Ayisha, who leads the Liberation of National Youth for Change (LNYC), arrived at the EC office to file her nomination but admitted she hadn’t filled out the necessary paperwork due to a packed schedule.
The aspirant explained that her focus on campaigning across the country and securing key endorsements left her with little time to attend to the crucial task of filling out her forms.
In a video shared online, she clarified her intentions, stating her goal to run for the presidency and bring transformative changes to the country.
Her platform revolves around educational reform, economic empowerment, industrial growth, and addressing the ongoing energy crisis.
Dr. Ayisha admitted that despite her efforts to gain regional endorsements and build a following, she had not yet completed the necessary paperwork.
She appealed to the EC for leniency, asking for more time to finalise the process, hoping to still have the chance to continue her presidential bid.
In her plea, she reiterated her vision for the country and her desire to lead it toward progress.
Her unusual request sparked reactions, with many expressing surprise at the situation, given the importance of properly preparing for such a significant role.
Dr. Ayisha’s plea also raised questions about the challenges candidates face when balancing campaign duties with administrative requirements.
The outcome of her request remains unclear, but the situation has certainly captured the attention of the public and media alike.
Dr. Ayisha’s appeal underscores the demands of running a campaign and the high stakes involved in competing for the presidency. Whether or not the EC will grant her the extra time remains to be seen.
“The intention was to contest as a presidential candidate. My vision is educational transformation, economic freedom, industrial evolution, resolve energy crisis. I have tried my best after picking my forms. We went to some regions and I got some endorsements. It is very challenging. As at now, I have everything but except for the form. I haven’t been able to complete the form.”
“So, I’m here to find out the next step if I’ll be given the chance to fill the form because I came in late and coming in late means I came with a vision to support and help the country but I haven’t been able to complete the vision but I have everything that needs to complete this process. I have my fans; I have the people but except the forms because the things are many.”
