The West Africa Examination Council (WAEC) has officially released the provisional results for the 2024 West Africa Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (WASSCE) candidates.
However, the results came with a stern warning, as thousands of candidates were sanctioned for various examination malpractices.
A total of 4,108 candidates had their subject results cancelled for bringing foreign materials into the examination hall, a serious breach of exam regulations.
Furthermore, the entire results of 483 candidates were cancelled for possessing mobile phones in the examination hall, another grave offense.
The release of the provisional results marks a significant milestone for the candidates, who have been eagerly awaiting the outcome of their hard work.
However, the sanctions imposed on those who engaged in malpractices serve as a reminder of the importance of upholding academic integrity.
Candidates can check their results online by visiting the WAEC website and following the prescribed procedures.
The Council has also provided guidelines on how to obtain a results checker and resolve any issues that may arise during the result-checking process.
As the dust settles on the 2024 WASSCE, WAEC’s swift action against exam malpractices sends a strong message about the Council’s commitment to maintaining the integrity of its examinations.
