Ghana head coach Otto Addo has named a strong starting line-up for the Black Stars’ international friendly against Austria, as the team steps up preparations for upcoming competitive assignments.
The match, scheduled for Friday evening at the Ernst Happel Stadium, is expected to provide a stern test for the Black Stars, with the technical team blending experience and youthful energy in a squad designed to compete from the outset. The fixture is also part of Ghana’s broader build-up towards future international tournaments.
In goal, Lawrence Ati-Zigi has been handed the responsibility of anchoring the team, with a defensive line made up of Caleb Yirenkyi, Derrick Köhn, Alexander Djiku and Jonas Adjetey tasked with containing Austria’s attacking threats in front of what is anticipated to be a lively home crowd.
Midfield duties will be led by the experienced Thomas Partey, who partners Kwasi Sibo in a pairing expected to provide both defensive cover and attacking transitions. On the flanks, Abdul Fatawu Issahaku and Antoine Semenyo are set to inject pace and creativity, offering width and directness in Ghana’s forward play.
Leading the attack is captain Jordan Ayew, who lines up alongside Prince Kwabena Adu, as the Black Stars look to convert their build-up play into goals against a disciplined Austrian side.
The encounter presents an opportunity for Ghana Football Association and the technical team to assess combinations and tactical execution against high-level European opposition, with several players keen to stake a claim for regular selection.
Kick-off is set for 17:00 local time in Vienna, and fans are encouraged to follow the action live below;
