Buipewura Abdulai Jinapor II, the Paramount Chief of Buipe Traditional Council and Vice President of the National House of Chiefs, has attributed his continued reign and success to the support of Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, whom he described as his “God on earth.”
During a visit to the Manhyia Palace on February 26, 2025, Buipewura expressed deep gratitude to the Asantehene, highlighting his pivotal role in ensuring his survival as a chief.
Over a decade ago, he faced deskinment after a dispute with the late Yagbon-Wura Tuntunba Borisa Sulemana Jakpa II over the removal of Mono-Wura Akwasi Piesie.
His refusal to reverse the decision led the Gonja Traditional Council to remove him from office, citing insubordination and disrespect. A legal battle followed, and a Tamale High Court ruled in his favour, nullifying the decision—a verdict that was later upheld on appeal.
According to Buipewura, Otumfuo played a crucial role in securing his reinstatement, providing him with assurance during the turbulent period. He regards this intervention as a testament to the Asantehene’s unwavering support, describing him as a guiding force who has always been there for him.
Beyond this past intervention, Buipewura also credited Otumfuo for his recent electoral success in the National House of Chiefs. Before contesting the Vice Presidency in November 2024, he sought Otumfuo’s blessing and encouragement.
He went on to win the election with 54 out of 73 votes, a victory he believes was made possible by Otumfuo’s guidance and support.
In appreciation, Buipewura visited Manhyia Palace, accompanied by members of the Buipe Traditional Council, including Danyanwura, Jawasewura, Kunshiwura, Koliwura, Koyapewura, Mandewura, Neripewura, Chaliwura, and Masheri-Ase Wuche. He also brought an imam to offer prayers for the Asantehene, wishing him long life so that his leadership and wisdom would continue to benefit Ghana.
