Award-winning Ghanaian singer KiDi has opened up about the emotional toll of online criticism and how he’s learned to detach from the negativity often thrown his way.
Speaking on the Talk No Dey Cook Rice podcast with host Derick Elorm Ashilevi, the Likor hitmaker got candid about dealing with social media trolls. For KiDi, the key to peace of mind has been understanding that much of the online hate has less to do with him—and more to do with the people behind the comments.
He noted that many online critics are simply venting their own frustrations, describing them as “sad people” who struggle internally and then lash out at public figures. KiDi shared that accepting he can’t please everyone has made it easier to cope with public scrutiny.
“Even if you give them 1 million, they’ll still say it’s not enough,” he said, pointing out how unreasonable some fans can be. He added that he has faced harsh responses just for promoting his music, with people hurling insults at him without provocation.
Rather than fight back, KiDi said he now approaches such negativity with empathy. He understands that many of these individuals are likely battling personal issues and using celebrities as easy targets to offload their pain.
With his calm perspective and steady rise in the music industry, KiDi continues to focus on what matters: making music that connects and inspires, while leaving the trolls behind.
