Ghana’s creative arts sector has been given a major lift, with five of its most influential personalities receiving diplomatic passports on Wednesday, September 17, 2025. The presentation was made by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, during the launch of Diaspora Summit 2025, organized by the Office of the President, Diaspora Affairs, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The recipients are Wode Maya (travel vlogger), Grammy-nominated reggae star Rocky Dawuni, media personality Anita Erskine, visual artist Ibrahim Mahama, and entrepreneur Dentaa Amoateng MBE.

Minister Ablakwa stated that the initiative aims to enhance Ghana’s diplomatic reach by empowering globally recognized creatives who consistently showcase Ghana and Africa on the world stage. With their influence spanning music, media, art, digital content, and diaspora engagement, the honorees are expected to strengthen cultural diplomacy, tourism, trade, and people-to-people relations.

Notably, Wode Maya, born Berthold Kobby Winkler Ackon, had recently shared on social media that Australia had denied him a visa, making his recognition with a diplomatic passport a particularly striking turn of events.
