A Nigerian man has taken to social media to share his amazement after a local dry cleaner returned cash he found in his laundry—a gesture that has since melted hearts online.
According to the man, he had recently gone to retrieve his laundered clothes from a dry cleaning shop near his home when he was surprised to discover that the dry cleaner had found ₦1,000 tucked away in one of his jeans and kept it aside for him.
Overwhelmed by the act of honesty, the man said he asked the dry cleaner why he didn’t keep the money. The dry cleaner reportedly responded that no amount of money was worth compromising his dignity and that he doesn’t steal. He further showed the customer other instances where he had found various sums of money—ranging from ₦200 to over ₦10,000—while working, but always returned them to the rightful owners.
The client, moved by the integrity of the laundryman, who he described as a respectable Berom man from Plateau State, pledged to return the ₦1,000 to him as a gesture of appreciation and vowed to continue doing business with him.
